itle: Technical Architect
Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL
This specific role relates primarily to IT/software deployment management. The system in question is a large, vendor delivered Mobile Work Force Management solution with multiple (6-10) environments (Dev, QA, Training, Pre-production, etc.) servicing a project team of twenty or more.
Lead a team of 4-5 quality engineers tasked with the use of DevOp style tools and methods for the rapid, repeatable, and reliable deployment of software to support project activities and production cutover
Identify and implement technologies and automation that support all deployments, validations, and environmental monitoring
Define and implement a project wide environmental change control process that includes advance approval for environmental change and clear and concise communication of package content
Capture and coordinate software deployment schedules across multiple environments and delivery teams –vendor, edge system interface teams, DBAs, etc.
Coach all team participants and environmental stakeholders on process, standards, reporting, and issues management
Track and resolve both process, people, and technical issues
Note: This role is NOT an Application Architect position. Is NOT the person determining how technology can be applied to the primary solution. Rather, they are receiving the solution from the development teams and integrating/deploying it to the various environments. That said, an understanding of the Architecture behind the solution being deployed is helpful.
Requires a combination of technical, leadership, and interpersonal skills:
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Can translate technical speak into layman’s terms for management and executive consumption
Good team leader
Technically proficient with development tools, source code control, packaging and deployment technologies
Solid grasp (preferred) or familiarity with environmental management best practices
At least 10 years of experience in IT with 3-5 of that in a lead role, preferably with environmental management of a large system. Technical Architect or Solution Development Lead is sufficient
Plus for experience with Mobile Work Force Management Systems (MWFMS/MWMS/Mobile Dispatch), especially in an electric utility context
